What to Expect During Phoenixville’s Open-Air Experience

Bridge Street Open-Air Experience
Bridge Street Closure – Taken by Bizcolumnist.com

Starting next Friday, you’ll be able to roam Bridge Street without the disturbance of traffic. It’s a special time to be a part of the community as local businesses have the opportunity to expand service onto the sidewalk and street. The borough coined these weekend occurrences the PXV Inside Out Open-Air Experience. If you’re looking to stroll through downtown Phoenixville, here’s what to expect from the open-air experience.

Bridge Street Closure

In 2020, the borough shut down the 100 and 200 blocks of Bridge Street for businesses to adhere to COVID-19 dining mandates–when outdoor dining became a necessity.

Since then, positive feedback was received from the community to keep this experience going. This year, the same blocks are closed.

You can detour around Bridge Street on other roads, but speed bumps have been implemented to keep borough roads safe. Main and Gay Streets are also open for those looking to cross the downtown area.

The closure starts at 2:00 p.m. every Friday and ends at 7:00 a.m. on Monday–a subtle pullback in hours from previous years. The experience spans from May 27 to Oct 3.

If you need to find parking, the borough website has a list of available areas within the FAQs section.

Outdoor Dining and Shopping

Businesses had to submit for sidewalk and open-air permits to extend operating capacity. You can expect restaurants to have ample seating outside for customers.

You’ll be able to dine along the street out front of the businesses or on the sidewalk.

Non-food stores are participating as well. Merchandise from boutiques and other shops will be on display as long as the business was approved for an open-air permit.

Restaurants and shops will be open during the below times.

Fridays: 4pm – 11pm

Saturday/Sunday: 7am – 11pm

Open container consumption is allowed on the sidewalk and street during the hours above.
