It’s been one year since the devastating winds and rain from Hurricane Ida swept through the  United States. Businesses, homes, and families were affected by the week-long natural disaster. Hurricane Ida spread its disastrous bands so far into the states that rivers and streams damaged the landscape around Pennsylvania.

As you know, the Schuylkill River separates Mont Clare and Phoenixville. During the disaster, the Schuylkill river rose past the banks and into the homes and businesses in the surrounding areas. Families were displaced due to the water that engulfed the homes. Businesses like Lock 29 had to shut down to clean and assess the damage.

In a time of need, the community stepped up to help individuals affected by the hurricane. On September 1, 2022, Fitzwater Station is giving back to those who helped.

Fitzwater Station Remembrance Gathering

According to an Instagram post, on September 1 Fitzwater Station is hosting a remembrance gathering. The gathering is to “celebrate how far we have come and offer support and encouragement to those still rebuilding.”

A free buffet from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. is being offered for neighbors, volunteers, police, firefighters, friends, and family who assisted others during the hurricane.
