June 3: The Grand Opening of the Phoenixville Bike Park
“If you build, it they will come.” The iconic phrase of the 1989 film Field of Dreams perfectly describes the opening of Phoenixville’s newest bike park. Instead of a baseball diamond and neatly manicured lawn striping, Reservoir Park now has dirt mounds and hand-crafted ramps. On June 3, the bike park opens to the public with a free party.
The Phoenixville Bike Park
Last year, Bizcolumnist.com blogged about the fundraising efforts to bring a skills park to the north side of Phoenixville. Just over a year later, the park is opening to the public.
On June 3 from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., you can head up to Reservoir Park to experience the grand opening. There will be food trucks, local bike shops, a disc golf clinic, live music, a DJ, an animal rescue, and a tent where you can learn about the local mountain bike team!
The park features 3 different trails for all experience levels. You can ride your bike through various skill areas including rollers, bridges, and drops. If you don’t know what those are, no problem! Check out morekidsonbikespa.org for all the details on the trails.
More Kids on Bikes is a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to “…to engage with all socio-economic levels of families located in and near the Phoenixville, PA community by offering resources to the student-athletes participating in the local youth mountain bike teams…”
If you’re attending the event, there is free parking at the recreation center. By coming to the event, you’ll be supporting the non-profit, volunteers, youth mountain bike teams, and all the sponsors that made this park happen.
