Regal Cinemas announced that it was closing 3 Philadelphia-area theaters earlier this year. One of those theaters resided in Oaks, just a few minutes north of King of Prussia. The beloved theater was part of the busy Oaks Marketplace. You may be familiar with the marketplace as it’s home to The Greater Philadelphia Expo Center. You’ll find Arnold’s Family Fun Center near the expo, which recently announced its takeover of the former Oaks theater.

The rumors were squashed on social media on July 10. Arnold’s posted a video on the plans for the vacant building.

The video’s highlight is the blueprint to open what they coin as the “Oaks Center.” The center will be a multi-faceted space for entertainment. It will act as an independent movie theater, arcade, live music venue, and corporate meeting space.

There is already a website dedicated to the Oaks Center with more details. You can visit the site at oakscenter.net. According to the announcement, it will remain at the current address 180 Mill Rd and no demolition will occur.

For cinephiles, the target month for opening is August 2023. It’s a surprisingly quick turnaround but exciting for those looking to return to the Oaks theater.

Under Arnold’s management, there should be unique approaches to the entertainment center. Initial ideas include having arcade games within the lobby of the theater. We’ll know more as the summer moves along.

In the meantime, you can enjoy everything Arnold’s Family Fun Center offers. The existing center has go-karts, arcade games, bowling, and more. It’s only a short walk from the upcoming Oaks theater and brings back another entertainment destination for indoor activities
