New to Blogging? You Should Start Writing on Medium
Over the last 7 years, I’ve experimented with all kinds of blogs. I would start a blog, forget to renew the domain, and lose interest. I didn’t know how to create eye-catching blogs and grow an audience. It wasn’t until summer 2021, that I refocused my goals on building a real blog. To start molding my writing skills, I started publishing articles on Medium.
What is Medium.com?
Medium is an online publishing platform that allows writers to share their thoughts, ideas, and stories. Essentially, it’s a social media platform for writers and reading enthusiasts.
The platform consists of aspiring writers, successful authors, and popular personalities. You can write about anything on Medium.
Writers start with a blank canvas and are provided simple tools to disseminate their thoughts. All of their pieces can instantly be published and shared with the world.
Why use Medium?
Before starting bizcolumnist.com, I didn’t know anything about growing an audience. Medium gave me the ability to write without the need to purchase a domain name and hosting. It saved me the trouble of maintenance.
There are millions of people viewing Medium articles every day. Their credibility gives writers exposure they may not get from using a WordPress blog. It makes hitting the front pages of Google a lot easier–even without having SEO knowledge.
The best part about this platform is the ability to monetize your writing. You won’t initially make money, but you have the potential to earn royalties on a monthly basis.
The only requirements to start making money are that you have 100 followers and published at least one story. You can read more about Medium’s Partner Program requirements here.
