Birdie’s Kitchen Brings Soul Food to Phoenixville, Serving Up “Good Food and Good Vibes”
What’s not to love about comfort food? Beloved bites like wings, macaroni and cheese, chicken and waffles, and everything in between. According to the owner, Blair Watts, the Soul Food restaurant Birdie’s Kitchen is coming to Phoenixville in early 2023.
You may have seen Blair “Birdie” Watts on CBS 3 Philadelphia or around town at events like Royersford Community Day. He’s a homestyle chef who quit the corporate lifestyle to follow his passion.
With his business background and love of food, he opened Birdie’s Kitchen in 2019 in the heart of Spring City. After a couple of successful years and property-related issues, the decision was made to move to Phoenixville.
Watts told Bizcolumnist.com that the future home of Birdie’s Kitchen will be the old Fisherman building at 440 Schuylkill Road. The building is over 60 years old but provides the necessary framework to build his kitchen.
When asked about what’s in store for the new location, he said that he’s looking to build a community around his business. Customers can expect 2 sides to his business–for the adults and for the kids. Think beef and beer for adults and movie nights for kids.
The 2-acre location provides him with the opportunity to have outdoor seating and events. On top of that, he’d like to have open mic nights. Plus, a Phoenixville favorite–ample parking for guests.
To make matters more exciting, he will be offering catering. However, he needs to wrap up kitchen renovations to make it customer ready. As for an official opening, he is aiming for the new year and will provide updates as they come.
If you’re looking for the taste of comfort food, customers can expect the mentality of “good food and good vibes.” Birdie’s is a local soul food favorite and the community is ecstatic to welcome this black-owned business to Phoenixville!
